Pokhara, July 10: Upendra Adhikari, the newly elected president of the Rotary Club of Pokhara, Lakeside, for the year, 2024/25, assumed office amid a function held here during the Club’s ninth installation ceremony.

Governor elect of the Rotary International District 3292 Nepal-Bhutan-2024/25 Binod Koirala installed the elected team.

Speaking at the event, Koirala informed about the Club’s work in the fields of environment, education, drinking water and health. Also advisor of the Club, Lakeside, he also called for an end to monkey problem in rural areas of Kaski district.

Similarly, former governor of the Club Kiran Lal Shrestha urged people to plan ways to change the society while assistant governor Gita Sigdel informed that the Rotary Club is an international organisation contributing to the society.

Recalling its establishment, the Club charter president Sundar Kumar Shrestha stressed the need for making the Club viable in the long run. He also congratulated the newly elected team.

IPP of the Club Shobhakanta Sigdel tabled the report on the Club’s achievements in one year. Former Club president Jayaram Paudel expressed his happiness that he was going to become the district governor. Earlier he held the position of the charter secretary in the Rotary Club of Pokhara Fishtail.

On the occasion, the newly elected president Adhikari presented the Club’s Action Plan for the fiscal year, 2024/25.

The Club’s souvenir ‘The Fewa’ was also released during the event. Vice President Top Bahadur Thapa delivered a welcome speech while secretary Subhash Malla host the programme. President elect Rajendra Ligal gave a vote of thanks.

Similarly, a seven-point agreement was reached between the Rotary Club, Lakeside and the Baba Foundation for cooperation in literacy, drinking water, sanitation and environment campaigns in Pokhara. The letter of agreement was signed by the president of the Club, Adhikari and Dilip Raj Shrestha on behalf of the Foundation.
