Sunsari Chataveli village is an old Islamic village. In recent years, the relationship of some local leaders with radical groups has garnered international discussion. After the mysterious murder of Fida Hussain in 2019, the possible radical activities and the arrival of Tablighi Jamaat in many Nepali Islamic villages like Chataveli have been questioned. Sometimes Tablighi Jamaat and sometimes religious teachers are called by special invitation to Madrasahs for religious education.
Several evidences of the arrival of Pakistani religious teachers and religious education have started to be found in Nepal. The Nepali government and administration and local Islamic residents are not aware of all these things. There is evidence that religious gurus who come in this way enter Nepal on tourist visas using Nepal’s airport. Exploiting Nepal’s liberal visa regime, Tablighi Jamaat members come on tourist visas and engage in proselytizing radicalization activities. The settlement of Rohingyas on the Nepalese border has also put Nepal’s security at risk.
Stakeholders’ attention has been focused on the fact that the government should take initiatives to stop such activities by preparing a regulation and supervision structure. Pakistan is using various religious means to influence Nepal through crime, fake currency, and child marriage.
Apart from this, evidence has been found that many Islamic funds are being brought into Nepali villages in the name of Baw Jihad. Regrettably, the government does not have any policy and control to stop such activities that destroy the security and religious tolerance of the country.
