Kathmandu: Dr. Anil Bikram Karki has been elected as the President of the Nepal Medical Association. Dr Karki was vying for the post from the democratic group. According to the counting of votes held on Tuesday, except one member, the panel of the democratic group has elected for the leadership of the association.
Dr. Santosh Paudel, representing the progressive group, was defeated by 1214 votes. Karki pocketed 3,537 votes while Poudel got 2323 votes.
Similarly, Dr. Sanjib Tiwari, has been elected as general secretary. He was representing the Democratic Group. He defeated Dr. Amrit Bhusal by 1377 votes.
Similarly, other winners are Dr. Niraj Kumar Singh for the post of Vice President and Madhes State Convenor, Dr. Prakash Budhathoki Vice President and Bagmati State Convenor, Dr. Prakash Budhathoki for Vice President and Gandaki State Convenor, Dr. Rajan Sharma for Karnali state and Dr. Prashant Bhatt Vijayi for the post of Vice President and Sudurpaschim province Convenor.
Among the members, Dr. Amit Ranjan Mishra, Dr. Kishore Khatri, Dr. Srijana Bist, Dr. Tejsusingh Mall, Dr. Yubhin Kumar Yadav of Democratic Group, and Dr. Smriti Mahat of Progressive Group won the battle.
Senior Vice President Dr. Badri Rijal, Vice President and Lumbini State Convenor Dr. Nandakumari Gurung, Vice President and Karnali State Convenor Dr. Keshar Bahadur Dhakal, Vice President and State 1 Convenor, Dr. Vipesh Acharya, Treasurer Dr. Pramod Joshi, Co-Treasurer Dr. Vikrant Dhakal and Co-Secretary Dr. Lijan Maharjan has already been elected unopposed.
A total of 6291 votes were cast in the elections.
