Kathmandu – In a show of strengthening diplomatic relationships and commitment to fostering inclusivity, Nepal has welcomed over 30 senior U.S. officials last week for two major conferences hosted by the U.S. Embassy.
The delegation was led by Zakyia Carr Johnson, Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer at the U.S. Department of State, along with Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary Elizabeth Horst and Deputy Assistant Secretary Jameela Akbari. They were joined by multiple Deputy Heads of Missions and Principal Officers from across the South and Central Asia region.
The first conference focused on diplomatic leadership with Deputy Heads of Mission and Principal Officers, while the second event centered on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) initiatives within the Department of State, emphasizing the importance of inclusive policies in both diplomatic engagements and the workplace.
During their stay, the visiting officials also had the chance to experience the cultural richness of Nepal, enjoying its historic sites, vibrant traditions, and renowned cuisine, while receiving a warm welcome from the Nepali people.
