BAHRAIN: In a major triumph for Nepalese sports, Norbu Sherpa clinched a second gold medal for Nepal in the men’s 80 kg boxing category, defeating Brazil with a close 2-3 split decision at the ISF Summer Games held in Bahrain.
This victory follows an earlier win by Swastika Tiruwa, who brought home Nepal’s first gold medal in the women’s 54 kg weight class with a decisive 5-0 victory over another Brazilian competitor.
The two gold medals mark a significant achievement for Nepal, thanks to the guidance of IBA 3-Star Coach Deepak Maharjan, whose leadership has been instrumental in the team’s success. Alongside the gold medalists, Nepal’s Suryan Baidhya and Janala also made the nation proud by earning bronze in their respective categories.
The outstanding performances of Nepal’s boxers have drawn attention from the international community and ignited pride among Nepalese fans.
