Kathmandu, Dec 10: The International Human Rights Day is being observed, organizing various programmes across the country today. The Day is marked in commemoration of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR).

The theme of the Day for this year is: ‘Our Rights, Our Future, Right Now.’ The Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs has informed that persons and institutions making remarkable contribution to the human rights are awarded on this occasion. The amount for the award comes from the fund established as per human rights award fund operation regulation, 2075.

However, no one will be awarded this year as the Ministry did not find any person or institution meeting the qualification and procedure set in the regulation. Joint Secretary and Spokesperson at the Ministry, Komal Bahadur Khatri, informed that the Ministry had begun a study on the need for increasing the amount of award.
