Kathmandu, Dec 30: Purnima Shrestha, a renowned photojournalist and Everest summiter, has been named in CNN’s “Extreme Athletes Who Pushed Limits in 2024” list.
The prestigious news agency recognized her for her extraordinary achievements in mountain climbing.
Upon receiving the recognition, Purnima expressed her pride in CNN’s decision, stating on a social site: “This year, 2024, remains historic for me. I climbed Mt. Everest three times in a single season, becoming the first woman in the world to achieve this feat.”
She also extended her gratitude to her family, friends, and everyone who supported her on this journey, wishing that 2025 would bring even more accomplishments and adventures.
Purnima made history by scaling the world’s highest peak three times in just two weeks: on May 12, 19, and 25 during the spring season. Additionally, she became the first Nepali woman to summit the Dhaulagiri peak.
