Kathmandu, April 23: Mr. Govind Ghimire has assumed leadership of NMB Bank as its Chief Executive Officer from today. Mr. Ghimire brings over three decades of invaluable banking experience to the role along with a significant and impactful leadership history within NMB Bank itself.
Having been an integral part of NMB Bank’s leadership since 2009, Mr. Ghimire has held key positions
including Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Chief Business Officer, and Head of Business Banking. His extensive
experience encompasses the strategic expansion of the bank’s presence across corporate, SME, and retail
banking sectors. Furthermore, his contributions have been vital in areas such as trade finance, credit risk
management, strategic planning, and driving operational transformational activities. A proponent of
digitization and innovative practices, Mr. Ghimire has actively participated in various strategic and
governance committees within the bank.
In his inaugural address as CEO, Mr. Ghimire stated, “My focus will be on deepening our relevance and
impact through innovation, sustainable partnerships, and inclusive financial solutions. The bank will
emphasize digitization, innovation, and sustainable banking practices as we consistently support our
communities, clients, and the nation in creating long-term, meaningful change."
As a part of the leadership changes at the Bank, Mr. Sudesh Upadhyaya has assumed the role of Senior
Deputy Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Upadhyaya brings a wealth of banking expertise, including a
thorough understanding of international markets, corporate governance and regulatory compliance. Mr. Upadhyaya has previously held key positions including Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Chief Business and Strategy Officer at NMB Bank.
With Mr. Ghimire’s appointment as the Chief Executive Officer, and Mr. Upadhyaya’s appointment as the
Senior Deputy Chief Executive Officer, NMB Bank embarks on a new phase characterized by continuity from
within, trust, and a collective dedication to fostering a prosperous Nepal.
