Kathmandu : In a demonstration of sports diplomacy, Deputy Chief of Mission Jason Meeks welcomed 12 adaptive sports participants from the United States to Nepal last week. The delegation will collaborate with Nepali athletes, youth, and U.S. program alumni through the U.S. Department of State’s International Sports Programming Initiative, implemented in coordination with PH International and the BIA Institute.

During their 10-day program, the U.S. team will engage in a variety of activities, including adaptive cricket, wheelchair basketball training sessions, and exchanges with Paralympians and Nepali officials, notably the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

The initiative aims to enhance Nepal’s disability sports infrastructure by sharing U.S. expertise in adaptive sports technology, coaching, and program development. Beyond fostering skills and knowledge exchange, the program underscores the growing partnership between the United States and Nepal in advancing inclusivity, empowerment, and collaboration through sports.
