Doti, March 23: The Seti-Karnali International Mahseer Angling Competition has started for the first time in Nepal. Angling competition are organised fishing tournaments.
The competition has been organized by Bogtaan Fudisal Rural Municipality with the support of the Nepal Tourism Board and sponsored by Sudurpaschim Province, Karnali Province, Mohanyal Rural Municipality Kailali, Thakur Baba Municipality Bardiya, Choukune Rural Municipality Surkhet, among others.
The competition that began on Sunday will run until April 2, according to the organizers. Under the competition, a rafting trip will start from today from the Seti River in Dipayal, Doti and will continue until April a, shared the coordinator of the competition, Devraj Joshi. He said that there is a provision of a cash prize of Rs 25,000 and a prize for the person who catches the longest fish in the competition.
A total of 25 people from the Netherlands, the UK, Finland, Japan, Malaysia, Thailand, India and Nepal are participating in the competition.
Secretary of the Ministry of Industry, Tourism, Forest and Environment of the Far West Province, Dirgha Narayan Koirala, said that the competition will highlight the potential of water tourism.
Chairperson of Bogtaan Fudsal Rural Municipality, Kamal Bahadur Gadsila, said that this type of competition was organized for the first time in Nepal with the aim of highlighting the potential of this place and benefiting the local citizens.
