KATHMANDU: Nepal’s First International Coin and Banknotes exhibition started today. The three-day-long exhibition organized by the Nepal Numismatic Society is ongoing at Nepal Arts Council, Babarmahal.
Coins and notes from Lichchhavi, Malla, and Shah dynasties are kept in the exhibition, according to Society’s general secretary Dipendra Ratna Shakya.

Former Prime Minister and Chairman of CPN (Unified Socialist) Madhav Kumar Nepal inaugurated the exhibition. In the exhibition, the numismatics from India also participated. The exhibition shall continue till Wednesday.
The first paper note was issued in Nepal in 2002 BS though the central bank had not established it. The notes of Rs 5, Rs 10 and Rs 100 were issued then with the sign of cashier Janakraj Pandit.
