Kathmandu, May 17: Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Nim Dikki Sherpa and Assistant Head Constable Anita Karki of the Armed Police Force (APF), Nepal scaled the Mt Everest on behalf of the APF, Nepal on Sunday morning.

Karki scaled the world’s tallest peak at 10:20 am and Sherpa reached at 11:55 am, according to the APF, Nepal. Karki and Sherpa are the third and fourth APF, Nepal personnel to reach atop Mt Everest.

Joint Spokesperson of the APF, Nepal Shailendra Thapa said that this is the first women’s team to scale the world’s tallest peak from the APF, Nepal.
Sherpa is a permanent resident of Sandakpur in Ilam district and Karki, a national fencing athlete, is from Gokulganga Rural Municipality in Ramechhap district and specializes on mountaineering rescue operations.

Prior to Mt Sagarmatha, Karki and Sherpa had scaled Mt Chulu Far East and Mt Lobuche. The APF, Nepal has termed their successful ascent to Mt Sagarmatha a historic success and has hoped that this would inspire women’s participation, capacity and leadership within the force.
