Kathmandu, Aug 30: A total of 261 tourists from various countries have been successfully rescued after being stranded by the flood in Bhotekoshi, Rasuwa. The Nepal Tourism Board reported that these rescues took place by Saturday evening, following the flood that hit on Wednesday morning.
According to Hikmat Singh Air, the Officiating Chief Executive Officer of the Board, tourists traveled to Gosainkund and Kailash Mansarovar with several companies were rescued. The rescued group includes tourists from 16 different countries.
Among them, there are 167 from India, 40 from China, one each from Belgium and Bulgaria, four from Germany, three from Italy, four from Malta, one from Oman, one from Portugal, two from Russia, two from Spain, two from Switzerland, two from Turkey, eight from Ukraine, and three from the United States.
Additionally, the board mentioned that 21 tourists, whose nationalities and identities remain undisclosed, have also been rescued.
However, the situation is still concerning, as 320 tourists are currently uncontacted due to the flood. The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, along with the Nepal Tourism Board, Tourist Police, and other tourism stakeholders, have ramped up search and rescue efforts in the affected areas.
The board emphasized that they are doing everything possible to ensure the safety of the injured and stranded tourists.
