Rasuwa, Sept 6: The recent floods in the Bhotekoshi River, stemming from the Nepal-China border area, have caused devastating losses in both life and property in Rasuwa.
So far, 1,313 individuals have been rescued alive, but a staggering 3,071 people remain unaccounted for. According to Dhruv Prasad Adhikari, the Assistant Chief District Officer and Information Officer, security personnel and local residents have successfully rescued 1,227 Nepalese citizens and 86 foreign tourists affected by the floods and landslides.
In a remarkable effort, 145 pilgrims and locals stranded in the Gosainkund area have been airlifted to safety in Nuwakot and Kathmandu via helicopters.
Unfortunately, many people in the district are still out of contact. Among those unaccounted for are 27 members of the Nepali Army, 28 from the Nepal Police, 13 from the Armed Police, along with 79 government employees and 26 staff from banks and financial institutions.
Additionally, 1,370 individuals from Rasuwa and 1,262 foreign tourists from other districts are still missing.
