Jumla, Sept 17: Sixty-three people from Jumla district are still missing in the aftermath of the devastating floods in the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli river corridor on August 26.
According to Chief District Officer Tej Prakash Prasai, out of 93 people from the district who were unaccounted for, 30 have come in contact so far. He informed that the remaining 63 are still out of contact.
Forty-nine people are missing from Patarasi Rural Municipality alone. Local resident Bhakta Budha informed that they went missing from Hankubensi in Rasuwa.
The rural municipality has provided relief to the families of the missing people in the first phase. The rural municipality chairman, Purna Singh Bohora, said that relief of Rs 41,000 per family has been provided.
An amount of Rs 30,000 as immediate relief and an additional Rs 11,000 provided by the donors have been made available. Similarly, food supplies have been provided, according to Janmaya Rokaya, the vice-chairperson of the rural municipality.
The rural municipality stated that under the leadership of local Jangabir Bohora, a relief fund of Rs 577 thousand was collected, and with one million and 477 thousand rupees from the municipality, a total of two million and 47 thousand rupees relief is available.
