The Beni-Jomsom road linking trans-Himalayan Mustang district with national highway via northern belt of Myagdi has been daily closed for six hours since Monday. The transport service has been put on hold every day for the prevention of landslide at Rupse fall area in Annapurna Rural Municiplaity-3 of Myagdi, construction of Bailey bridge and expansion of road network. Chief District Officer Tulsiram Poudel said vehicular movement has been halted on 6.00- 9.00 am and 1.00-3.00 pm from April 17 through May 3.
Earlier, transport service was brought to a halt in the Rupse section same time on March 17-28. The road project said traffic service has been disrupted along the road section as it was riskier to continue with road, bridge construction and landslide prevention works in the narrowed space. The contractors had approached the District Administration Office Myagdi through the Beni-Jomsom-Korala road project with a letter for the management of time table. The vehicles en route to Mustang from Myagdi and vice-versa should cross the Rupse road section before the closure of traffic service.
However, the administration said it would arrange for smooth movement of ambulance and vehicles for most-essential service and goods on the road.
