Kathmandu – Nima Rinji Sherpa has become the youngest climber in the world to ascend Nanga Parbat (8,126 meters) in Pakistan. Sherpa is hailing from Sankhuwasabha.

He successfully climbed Nanga Parbat with his climbing partner Pasang Nurbu Sherpa at 7:15 a.m. according to Pakistan’s local Sayam on Monday. Nanga Parbat is considered to be the most difficult and technical mountain in the world.

According to Seven Summit Treks, one of the largest expedition companies in Nepal,  Nima successfully climbed Nanga Parbat in 17 years and 68 days.

Earlier in the last spring season, Nima also set the world record on Mount Everest and Lhotse at the youngest age by climbing double headers (8000ers) at 17 years 35 days on 24 May within 10 hours, In 2022, Nima from the Seven Summit Treks and 14 Peaks Expedition, set the world after becoming the youngest person in the world to have scaled Mt Manaslu real summit. Nima is the youngest son of record-holding climber Tashi Lakpa Sherpa.

He also urges the government to create a conducive environment to preserve the mountains, mountain guides, and mountaineers.

Tashi, Managing Director of Seven Summit Treks, is not a new name in the field of mountaineering.

He began his career as a mountaineer after his first successful ascent of Mt. Everest in 2004 from South Col (Nepal Side) and climbed Mt Everest for eight times so far.

Apart from Mt Everest, he has also successfully climbed Mt. Cho Oyu (8,201m), Mt. Makalu (8,463m), Ama Dablam (6,812m), and Denali (North America), Kilimanjaro (Africa) and Elbrus (Europe) among many other peaks above 6,000m.

Sherpa is concerned with the development and promotion of the tourism sector and criticizes the government for not giving much priority to the sector that can reward the government in many ways.

He also urges the government to create a conducive environment to preserve the mountains, mountain guides, and mountaineers.

More than 40% of the renounced mountain guides now stay abroad for a better life and future of the family. So it is also time to hold the mountaineers in the country as they are the ‘icons’ for the mountains.

Moreover, Mingma and Chhang Dawa Sherpa held the Guinness World Record for the “World’s First Siblings to Summit all 8,000 m”. Similarly, Tashi Lakpa Sherpa, among the three siblings, holds the Guinness Record for climbing Mt. Everest at the age of 20 without using supplementary oxygen.

He thinks it is now high time to establish Tourism University in the country.

“Nepal is an open university for tourism, we just need to institutionalize it,” he spoke thoughtfully, “If we establish the University, many students interested in the tourism sector come here for study. They are not only students, they are travelers too. Indirectly, the hospitality business also gets nourished.”

A young entrepreneur and a successful mountaineer, Sherpa sees a good perspective of tourism in Nepal and says that Nepal has all the resources, we just need to explore them and promote them creatively.

Likewise, the Three Sherpa brothers — Mingma, Chhang Dawa, and Tashi Lakpa Sherpa — have become the first three siblings and the first Nepali team to reach the South Pole (90 degrees).

Meanwhile, their younger brother Pasang Phurba Sherpa is a member of the Board of Directors at Seven Summit Treks and a dedicated climber who has already accomplished the feat of climbing Mt. Everest, Ama Dablam, Elbrus, and Kilimanjaro. He is currently on his way to completing the “Seven Summits,” which involves climbing the highest peak on each of the seven different continents. He has been leading the Base camp as an expedition Manager in different Expeditions organized by seven summit treks since its establishment.
