Bhojpur, Dec 26: In a laudable gesture, Krishna Bahadur Rai, a retired British military man has donated Rs 13.9 million to construct a school building in the remote Pauwadung rural municipality of the eastern Bhojpur district. This endeavor is meant to support education to the local people, showcasing Rai’s commitment to the welfare of the local community.
Now, the Shitaladevi Basic School, which now boasts a newly constructed 6-room building. The formal handover of the building to the school management team took place on Monday.
At 70 years old, Krishna Bahadur Rai utilised his own financial resources for this philanthropic venture. “Although I had planned a building for health post, I later assisted for school as the health post had already go a new one,” the 70-year-old Rai said, adding that he would also manage a playground for the schoolchildren.
He has expressed his further commitment to the cause by arranging for a playground for the schoolchildren.
On the occasion, rural municipality chair Kiran Rai appreciated Krishna Bahadur’s philanthropic initiative. “It is a huge contribution to the village. We are indebted to him.”
Similarly, Chandra Bogati, the school principal, emphasized the positive impact of the new building, anticipating that it will play a pivotal role in retaining students and providing quality education, especially at a time when student numbers have been declining due to migration.
