Banke, Dec 28: The Banke district court has convicted 19 people in the case of the embezzlement of millions of rupees belonging to a cooperative named Sahakari Financial Sanstha Limited in Banke.
A single bench of judge Indra Bahadur Kathayat convicted 19 people, and gave a clean chit to 21 others in the case.
The convicts have been identified as Lila Prasad Oli, Gaurab Shrestha, Sharda Kumari Thapa Magar, Siddhi Kumar Maharjan, Amar Khadka, Rabindra Thapa, Om Prakash Chaudhary, Lila Shah, Tusar Sah, Sandip Sharma, Balaram Yadav, Haradev Bux Chaudhary, Sthirmani Bajracharya, Kiran Shrestha, Gangadhar Subedi, Arun Kumar Pathak, Gopal Bhandari, Surya BK and Suratram Khatik, said the court’s registrar Sarojnidhi Wagle.
A case was filed in the court against 41 people accusing them of embezzling Rs 430 million. Out of them, 33 people were released on bail, seven remained in judicial custody and one is on the large.
The convicts are among members of the then board of directors and employees of the cooperative. are among those found guilty. Punishment for the convicts will be decided after fixing another hearing within one month, said Wagle.
Similarly, those who received the clean chit have been identified as Ajaya Kumar Pathak, Satish Kumar Sharma, Tulsa Thapa, Angatara Barma, Dipak Barma, Chandra Prasad Timilsena, Rajendra Kumar BK, Maiya KC, Paban Kumar Yadav, Laxmi Shrestha, Bimala Gautam, Krishna Bikram KC, Ratna Rana, Paramatma Prasad Kurmi, Nanda Kishor Kahar, Ganga Bhusal, Bijaya Kumar Pathak, Binam Kumar Shrestha, Narayan Babu Adhikari, Binod Kumar Shakya and Kulananda Regmi.
