Kathmandu, Jan 4: External Affairs Minister of India S Jaishankar arrived in Kathmandu today morning. Minister for Foreign Affairs of Nepal NP Saud and other officials of the ministry welcomed him upon his arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport. He boarded a special aircraft of the Indian Air Force and landed at TIA at around 9:30 am.
Jaishankar is on a two-day visit to Nepal to take part in the seventh meeting of the India-Nepal Joint Commission at the invitation of his Nepali counterpart Saud.
Upon his arrival in Kathmandu, he took to X (twitter) and expressed his happiness at visiting Nepal. “Happy to be back in Nepal for my first visit of 2024. Looking forward to the engagements over the next two days.”
Before co-chairing the meeting at 1 pm at Hotel Yak & Yeti in Durbarmarga today, Jaishankar is scheduled to hold high level political meetings in Nepal.
As part of the meeting, upon reaching Kathmandu, he paid a courtesy call on President Ramchandra Paudel at the President’s official residence in Sheetal Niwas. Shortly after that, he met with Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ at the latter’s office in Singha Durbar.
To the meeting, Minister Saud will lead the delegation from Nepal, and Jaishankar from India. Jaishankar is scheduled to return home on Friday at 8 am. Before his return, he is slated to worship at Pashupatinath Temple.
