Kathmandu, March 19: The United States has expressed its commitment to continuing to partner with Nepal to foster a strong and inclusive democracy, including supporting free and independent media, combating corruption, and upholding human rights.

This statement comes ahead of the Third Summit for Democracy (S4D3) scheduled for March 18-19 in Seoul.

Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken will lead the U.S. delegation to the event.

Hosted by the Republic of Korea, the three-day event highlights the benefits of democracy for peace, security, and prosperity and is expected to be a catalyst for all government officials, civil society, and private sectors to focus on the opportunities and threats democracies are facing, it has been said.

On the first day of programming, Secretary Blinken will provide opening remarks in the Summit opening ceremony, deliver the U.S. intervention during the ministerial conference, and give a speech on information integrity, according to a statement issued by the U.S. Embassy.

“Our democracies have different histories, different strengths, different challenges. But we’re all determined to deliver a safer, healthier, more prosperous, more inclusive future for our people and people around the world,” said Secretary Blinken.
