Kathmandu, April 2: USAID’s Strengthening Systems for Better Health (SSBH) Technical Officers is bearing fruit in Nepal as many health workers are reaping the benefits. Over 8,000 health workers have undergone training on maternal, newborn and child health, and family planning coaching organised by USAID under SSBH.
The beneficiaries work for nearly 650 health facilities in the country. SSBH plays a crucial role in developing coaches at the municipal level, ensuring the sustainability of coaching and mentoring practices.
Training initiatives like these help health workers complement their off-site training and retain their capacity through on-site coaching and mentoring, it has been said. When we invest in health workers, we not only support economic recovery but also create jobs and opportunities for women, said USAID.
