Kathmandu, April 27: The Nepal Investment Summit 2024 is officially taking place tomorrow. Nepal is scheduled to showcase 150 projects, while investors from 55 foreign countries have been confirmed.
The United States is proud to sponsor, lead, and participate in Investment Summit panel discussions on energy, digital information, communications technology, the role of development finance institutions, and public-private partnerships, it has been said.
In addition to USG officials, representatives of several U.S. Fortune 500 companies are in Nepal to attend the summit to learn more about Nepal as a promising destination for foreign investment. Meanwhile, this evening, AmCham Nepal and US Chamber of Commerce held a business roundtable in connection with Nepal’s Investment Summit.
The United States is committed to supporting the energy, tourism, technology, and manufacturing sectors and increasing private sector investment in Nepal to create job opportunities, and improve inclusive economic growth, according to a statement issued by the U.S. Embassy in Nepal.
The United States International Development Finance Corporation has deployed $270 million to help Nepal and Nepali businesses, including $150 million to NMB and Laxmi banks for loans to small and medium-sized businesses and socially disadvantaged borrowers.
USAID Nepal’s $19 million Trade and Competitiveness activity has helped over 650 businesses improve their performance and connect to markets abroad and improve the business climate, it has been said.
