Kathmandu, May 10: U.S. Ambassador to Nepal Deal R. Thompson and USAID Nepal’s Acting Deputy Mission Director Beth Hogan jointly met with the regional team and Media Fellows of the USAID Civil Society and Media project in Lumbini.
On the occasion, the ambassador is said to have learnt how this project has empowered marginalised voices in Nepal, supports non-traditional organizations, and addresses crucial issues these communities face.
The fellows are advocating for issues like LGBTQIA+ rights and citizenship rights, making a difference in Lumbini Province, ranging from LGBTQIA+ rights to fighting usurious money lending practices.
“The United States, through the USAID Civil Society and Media project, is proud to support inspiring media fellows to spotlight issues faced by marginalised communities and amplify their voices to drive change.”
