Kathmandu, June 5: Minister for Health and Population Pradeep Yadav visited Nepal Mediciti Hospital to inquiry about its condition.
During the visit, he took stock of the treatment services and quality sanitation of Nepal’s first NABH certified hospital. He inspected the hospital’s helipad, ICU, operation theatre, dialysis and gastro department.
For the past five years, the hospital has been implementing the drug treatment plan for poor citizens, having provided treatment for nearly 2000 patients so far.
Till now, as many as 304 people have undergone heart-related treatment and surgery, and over 1,543 people have received cancer-related treatment. Similarly, 146 people have received dialysis services.
During the inspection, the minister discussed the classification of hospitals, medical tourism and the facilities offered by hospitals.
On the occasion, Chairman of Nepal Mediciti, Dr Upendra Mahato said Nepal can become the hub of medical tourism if the country’s hospitals can provide international level services. He referred to the compulsion of thousands of people going to foreign countries for medical treatments for a quality healthcare in Nepal.
During the visit, the hospital discussed issues such as the fact that medicines should be easily available while calling for facilitating the export of medicines by the Department of Drug Administration, the production of cyclotron needed for diagnosing cancer, and allowing foreign skilled doctors to work in the country for a short time to build an international level hospital.
