Parsa, June 10: Birgunj Metropolitan City has directed the public and private schools to manage classes only within 10.30 am with immoderate rise in temperature lately.

A meeting of the metropolitan city on Sunday directed the schools to limit their classroom hours from today onward.

Chief Administrative Officer of Birgunj Metropolitan City Matrika Bhattarai said schools have been requested to minimize teaching hours taking into consideration of students’ health in extreme heat condition.

He cited the forecast of the Meteorological Department that the heat may further increase in the Tarai÷Madhes region.

“A meeting of the Metropolitan City has instructed the authorities concerned to manage the time period for conducting classes up to 10:30 am until further notice. The losses incurred due to reduced teaching period can be reconciled later”, he said.

There are 92 public schools and 138 private schools within Birgunj metropolis boundary. It includes 21 secondary schools, 15 basic schools, 55 primary schools and one pre-primary school under the public school category.
