Kathmandu, June 29: The Everest International Model United Nations conference has concluded here.
Co-organised by the U.S. Embassy in Nepal and the Youth Thinkers Society, the five-day event brought together over 200 student delegates from across South and Central Asia, discussing a variety of regional policy issues including climate change, artificial intelligence, women’s participation in peace and security, and combating digital misinformation, said the U.S. embassy.
The conference provided a platform to learn about and discuss emerging global agendas, share experiences and expertise, and develop innovative policy recommendations to address these issues through team-building efforts and self-leadership initiatives.
At the closing ceremony, Acting Deputy Chief of Mission Garrett Wilkerson thanked all the participants, including the delegates, for their meaningful and active contributions throughout the conference and for making it a grand success. He highlighted efforts of programmes like EIMUN to promote multilateralism and provide a useful platform to practice negotiation and public speaking skills.
“We are inspired by and proud of all the young participants and can’t wait to see how they use their stellar communications skills in the future! Can’t wait to see another amazing group of young delegates next year.”
