Kathmandu, June 29: In honor of Pride Month, the U.S. Embassy in Kathmandu in collaboration with various organisations hosted a special panel discussion here on LGBTQIA+ issues. The event brought together LGBTQIA+ activists Simran Sherchan from the Federation of Sexual and Gender Minorities Nepal, Shailee Chaudhary from Dalit Lives Matter, Sudip Gautam from Unity For Change and Subhash Kafle from the Blue Diamond Society.
This event aimed to provide a platform and safe space for meaningful dialogue and amplify voices within the community, said the organiser.
The discussion highlighted the progress made in LGBTQIA+ rights, importance of intersectionality within the community, sharing personal experiences that highlights their resilience and strength, and addressing the challenges that still lie ahead.
Pride Month is a month-long event dedicated to the celebration of LGBT pride, commemorating the contributions of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) culture and community.
