Kathmandu, July 2:  A session of the National Assembly (NA) today held deliberations on the Appropriation Bill-2081 BS, focusing on headings concerning seven ministries.

The deliberations were centered on the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, the Ministry of Health and Population, the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, the Ministry of Water Supply and Sanitation and the Ministry of Finance.

Taking part in the deliberations, Kamala Devi Panta said the government is not sensitive about promoting a preventive approach against diseases. She called for expanding the insurance scheme to villages and acknowledging the contribution of women health volunteers.

Nar Bahadur Bista expressed his concern over an ‘imbalance’ in budget allocation, as he claimed, more for electoral constituents of ministers, and demanded the implementation of effective plans to increase citizen’s access to drinking water.

Lawmaker Narayan Datta Mishra said it is necessary to operate the government-owned Nepal Airlines Corporation in the public-private partnership model.

Tulasa Kumari Dahal called for seriousness on the initiatives that have to be taken for accessing facilities and the assistance that the least-developed countries are entitled to get from the developed countries in terms of the risk and disasters that Nepali people are facing due to the climate change.

Rajendra Laxmi Gaire urged the government to bring a plan for allocating the amount as gratuity to the female health volunteers.

Puja Chaudhary, Shree Krishna Prasad Adhikari, Durga Kumari Gurung, Sonam Geljen Sherpa, Gopal Bhattarai, Vishnu Kumari Sapkota among the lawmakers also took part in the deliberations on the Appropriation Bill.

In the meeting, National Assembly Secretary Dr Surendra Aryal tabled in the Assembly the message received from the House of Representatives in connection to the ‘Bill to Amend Some Nepal Acts Related to Investment Facilitation, 2024’.
