Kathmandu, June 25: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has sacked party general secretary Dr Mukul Dhakal.
Today’s meeting of the party central committee relieved him of the post of the party central member, general secretary, and spokesperson on the recommendation of the party disciplinary committee. Acting Spokesperson Manish Jha said he was dismissed unanimously. Only his ordinary membership has been retained.
The meeting chaired by party chairperson and deputy prime minister Rabi Lamichhane has decided that Dhakal can appeal if he disagrees with the decision of the central committee. RSP has formed a review committee under the coordination of joint general secretary Bipin Acharya.
Responding to the question that is it natural to dismiss the party general secretary just for raising dissenting views within the party, Spokesperson Jha said, “He has faced action because he did not show political behaviour.”
Commenting on his dismissal, Dr Dhakal said although he was expelled from party chairperson Rabi Lamichhane’s “club”, he would keep supporting the party. “Although I have been kicked out of Rabi Lamichhane’s “club”, I will not stop ringing bell (Ghanti), RSP’s election symbol,” he said metaphorically.
