Kathmandu, Aug 1: Ambassador of Australia to Nepal Felicity Volk has expressed her support for the Kathmandu Triennale 2026, hosting an introductory event for the upcoming art exhibition at the embassy.
Australia has a special connection to the Kathmandu Triennale 2026 with Australian Professor Natalie King joining Sujan Chitrakar as Co-Artistic Director for the fifth edition of the Triennale.
She has also offered her best wishes to the event organisers, Siddartha Arts Foundation and the Nepal Academy of Fine Arts for fifth edition of the Kathmandu Triennale while praising its theme “We Breathe Together: Coexistence | Kinship | Care” as important to our world in the midst of conflict and climate crisis.
Stating that for centuries, Nepal has been the epicentre of artistic practice from paubha and thangkas, to metal artisans and wood workers, to terracotta and stone sculptors and pottery makers and more, she said, “Now, I am delighted to see growing international recognition of Nepal as a contemporary arts hub for the region and for the globe.”
She eagerly awaits the Triennale’s opening in February 2026.
Organised by Siddhartha Arts Foundation, the Kathmandu Triennale is Nepal’s premier international platform for contemporary art, with an aim to promote Nepali arts and culture and to establish Kathmandu as an international hub for the arts.
