Myagdi, Aug 25: Floods caused by torrential rains on Saturday night have taken their toll in Benibazaar of Myagdi district. Schools, Ashrams, roads and other physical structures have been damaged in the disaster.
According to the District Police Office, a Bolero jeep (Ga 2 Cha 9355) heading from Pokhara to Beni was swept away by a flood at Beni Municipality-1. The passengers and the driver escaped the incident to save their lives. Classrooms of Jadbharat Sanskrit Secondary School in Beni municipality-9 have been flooded.
Deputy Superintendent of Armed Police Force, Nabaraj Nepal said, Pulahapulatsya Annakshetra adjacent to the school and the canteen of the Galeshwor Senior Citizens Ashram were flooded.
Similarly, Kalipul Bus Park at Beni Municipality-8, and the entrance area have also been submerged due to a flood. Major roads in Myagdi have been blocked due to floods and landslides. Inspector Rajan Rayamaji said that Baglung-Beni road in Hulake, Beni-Jomsom road in Galeshwor, Beni-Darbang road in Agnikhet, Singa, Ghumwanema, Maldhunga-Beni road in Jaljala Rural Municipality were blocked due to landslides.
Efforts were on to clear the roads, he said.
