Kathmandu. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Urban Development Prakash Man Singh inaugurated the Mangaladevi Singh senior citizen park in Kathmandu Metropolitan City-11 amid a function today.
The park was built with the budget of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Urban Development of the Bagmati Province Government.
“Mangladevi Singh is the first woman to raise her voice for the rights of Nepali women,” said Deputy Prime Minister Singh on the occasion, “Inclusive, proportional representation in the constitution and women’s representation at the policy level is also an achievement of the movement led by Mangaladevi.”
The park with facilities of resting place representing the original identity of the Newari community and toilet serves as a recreational spot for the senior citizens of Baneshwar, Buddanagar, Babarmahal areas, said provincial lawmaker Dipendra Shrestha. Ward chair Hiralal Tandukar informed that the ward will oversee the operation and protection of the park.
