Morang, Sept 1: Two girls were found dead in Morang. One-year-old Aika and three-year-old Arpana, daughters of one Arjun Karki of Dikure of Pakribas Municipality-4 in Dhankuta district were found dead at a banana farm of a local resident Narayan Neupane, said the police. Asmita Neupane, mother of the deceased has gone missing. Arpana’s body was found hugging her sister Aika.
A bottle of pesticide was found near the bodies, said the police. The incident took place on Saturday.
Currently, Arjun and his wife Asmita were renting an apartment of their sister Sita Regmi at Malati tole of Sundar Haraicha-7 with their deceased daughters. The Karki family was building a new house nearby. Arjun and Asmita had a quarrel on Saturday over a household dispute. In anger, Asmita had left home with her daughters, said the police.
According to the preliminary investigation, it seems that both the girls were killed by poisoning. There are no external injuries on their bodies. Asmita’s mobile phone was also found near the incident site, said the police, adding that a search has been launched for missing Asmita.
