Kochi – In a notable achievement for Nepal, three young leaders—Nishita Nakarmi, Rahan Poudel, and Shrawan Dahal Upadhaya—recently showcased their youth-led program, “Youth for Youth,” at the 11th Asian Youth Forum on Drug Use Prevention. Held in Kochi, India, the event was organized by the Colombo Plan’s Drug Advisory Programme, with support from the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement.
“Youth for Youth” was among 26 proposals presented at the forum and was one of the few selected for funding, highlighting its promise as a youth-driven solution for effective drug prevention. The program aims to empower young people across Nepal, fostering resilience and community awareness to combat drug use and addiction.
The U.S. government’s investment in youth-focused initiatives like this underscores its commitment to supporting young voices in Nepal and across Asia. By backing local changemakers, the initiative hopes to create healthier, drug-free communities and contribute to a prosperous future for all Nepalis.
