KATHMANDU: French Ambassador to Nepal, Virginie Corteval, met with Mingma Chhiri Sherpa, Chairperson of Khumbu Pasanglhamu Rural Municipality, to discuss recovery efforts following August’s devastating Glacial Lake Outburst Flood (GLOF) in Thame village.

In response, the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, through its Crisis and Support Centre (CDCS), provided €20,000 in emergency aid. These funds were deposited in Nepal’s Disaster Management Fund to facilitate timely relief for the affected families.
Ambassador Corteval expressed France’s commitment to supporting Nepal during its rebuilding process and praised the resilience of the Thame community.
The meeting underscores France’s commitment to supporting Nepal’s disaster-affected communities and strengthening bilateral ties.
