Kathmandu: The U.S. Embassy in Nepal, through its spokesperson Zehra Naqvi, shared the highlights of an eventful November, marked by impactful initiatives across development, media resilience, and youth engagement.
A significant development was the relaunch of the Millennium Challenge Account Nepal’s procurement process for the construction of a 297 km transmission line under the MCC Nepal Compact. This transformative project, funded by U.S. grant assistance and the Government of Nepal, aims to enhance Nepal’s energy infrastructure and drive economic growth.
The Embassy also launched a $100,000 grant program in partnership with Youth Innovation Lab. This initiative invites content creators, media outlets, and journalists to develop innovative approaches to combat misinformation and strengthen public resilience against disinformation.
Adding to the month’s achievements, U.S. Special Envoy for Global Youth Issues Abby Finkenauer visited Nepal. During her visit, she engaged with young Nepali leaders, participated in youth-focused events promoting democracy and civic engagement, and addressed critical issues affecting the nation’s youth.
These initiatives reflect the United States’ steadfast commitment to supporting Nepal’s development, fostering informed communities, and empowering future leaders.
