Surkhet: Nabil Bank Limited successfully conducted a free health camp for the Raute community in Surkhet. Nabil Bank conducted the camp in collaboration with Health Nutrition Education and Agriculture Research Development Nepal (HEARD Nepal) and in coordination with the Public Health Service Office, Surkhet under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.

A total of 137 individuals from 48 Raute families received medical check-ups during the camp, which included 59 women and 78 men. The health camp addressed common health issues such as seasonal colds, pneumonia, skin diseases, gastric problems, and uterus and back pain in women. A four-member medical team, led by Dr. Sujan Sapkota, a surgeon from Karnali Province Hospital, Surkhet, provided comprehensive health services, including deworming medicines, vitamins, and iron supplements.

The Raute community, an ethnic group primarily residing in Surkhet and other districts within Karnali Province, faces unique health challenges due to poor nutrition, an unhealthy lifestyle, and lack of sanitation. Recognizing these challenges, Nabil Bank organized the health camp to promote health awareness and improve access to medical services while respecting the cultural beliefs and practices of the community.

Highlighting the bank’s commitment to social welfare, Gyanendra Prasad Dhungana, Chief Executive Officer, Nabil Bank, said, “This health camp aims to enhance the health and well-being of the Raute community while increasing awareness about sanitation and providing essential health services.”

The camp was attended by the head of the Raute community and local representatives. Bhim Bahadur Bhandari, Chairman of Barahtal Rural Municipality, praised the initiative, emphasizing the importance of supporting marginalized and endangered communities like the Rautes. He stated, “The responsibility for the development of the Raute community lies with the provincial and federal governments, including rural municipalities. We deeply appreciate Nabil Bank’s efforts and look forward to more initiatives in the future.”

Nabil Bank remains committed to its CSR mission, engaging in activities that bring meaningful change to the society. The bank continues to support initiatives aimed at fostering the development and well-being of communities across Nepal.
