Pokhara, Feb 20: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has urged the university graduates to work sincerely for the country as Nepalis a country of origin of knowledge, philosophy, yoga and research.
Addressing the 20th Convocation Ceremony of Pokhara University at Dhungepatan, Kaski today, he said one should sincerely use the knowledge gained in positive and constructive works for the benefit of society.
“Positive success can be gained only through honesty. Success achieved through dishonesty is not useful to society. It cannot be considered as success if you use your knowledge in criminal acts like negativity, theft and deceit in society even if you have studied well. You should be useful for society and the country. If you work only for your personal interest then that is being selfish. Do something good for the country and society.
You should have the dignity of being a sovereign citizen,” PM and Chancellor Oli said on the occasion.
Calling upon the university students not to harbour the inferiority feeling that we are the citizens of a small country, he reiterated that the sovereignty of any country cannot be big or small.
“One cannot become a mahout if you run away on seeing an elephant. Try to tame the ‘elephant’ and become the mahout. Be courageous, but not foolhardy,” the Prime Minister said as a piece of advice to tackle the challenges with wisdom and perseverance.
Stating that our country has fertile land which can be utilized for ‘transformative development’, PM and Chancellor Oli urged the University to work in this direction. He added that the government will support the University in this work.
On the occasion, Chancellor Oli awarded degrees to 7,872 students of various faculties and programmes under the University.
