Kathmandu, April 3 – Japan has partnered with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) to launch a project aimed at improving maternal and child health services in disaster-affected areas of Nepal. The initiative, officially inaugurated today, will focus on regions impacted by the 2023 Jajarkot earthquake and the heavy rains of 2024.
Ambassador of Japan to Nepal, Mr.Maeda, attended the launch event, emphasizing Japan’s commitment to strengthening healthcare services for mothers and children. He expressed hope that the project would enhance Nepal’s capacity to maintain quality healthcare in disaster-prone areas.
The UNFPA-led initiative will work to rebuild and equip healthcare facilities, provide essential medical supplies, and train healthcare workers to improve maternal and neonatal care. With Japan’s support, the project aims to ensure safer childbirth and better healthcare access for vulnerable populations.
