Kathmandu : Rainfall took place in various parts of the country including the Kathmandu Valley this evening. This was due to the influence of a westerly low-pressure system and local winds.
According to Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, Kathmandu received 18.8 millimeters of rain, Lalitpur 15.4 millimeters, and Bhaktapur 16.4 millimeters. According to the information officer of the department, Dinkar Kayastha, Nuwakot received the most rain in the 6 hours today with 34.2 millimeters, followed by Sindhupalchowk with 21.8 millimeters of rain.
The department has stated that the weather in hilly and mountainous areas of the country including Gandaki, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces is generally cloudy and the rest of the country is partially cloudy. Similarly, light to moderate rain and snowfall with thunder and lightning is taking place in Gandaki Province, some places in the hilly areas of Bagmati, and a few places in the rest of the hilly and mountainous areas.
On Tuesday, the weather will be generally cloudy in the mountainous and hilly areas and partially cloudy in the remaining areas of the country. There is a possibility of moderate rain and snowfall with thunder and lightning at a few places in the hilly and mountainous regions of the country and in one or two places in the Tarai area of Koshi Province, the department has stated.
