Kathmandu: Efforts to locate and rescue three Sherpas who went missing in an avalanche during a climbing expedition in Mt Everest are ongoing.
The three Sherpas, identified as Dawa Chhiri Sherpa, Pemba Tenzing Sherpa, and Lakpa Rita Sherpa, disappeared while carrying materials to make trails between base camp and camp-1.
They were mobilized by Imagine Nepal Trek and Expedition and are from Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality-5 in Solukhumbu district.
A statement from the Tourism Department confirmed that search and rescue operations are being carried out aerially by a Simrik Air helicopter and via land, with support from local authorities and various organizations. The incident occurred during the spring season, a popular time for expeditions.
