Kathmandu: A total of 984 complaints regarding loan sharking have been recorded at the Parsa district administration office (DAO).
Gaurishanker Saha, the Chief of the Loan Shark Victim Help Desk at DAO Parsa, revealed that these complaints were lodged by individuals who claimed to have been victimized by loan sharks.
The surge in applications followed the implementation of a new ordinance that allows legal action against predatory lending.
Chief Saha further stated that the submission of applications gained momentum on April 30, following the DAO’s call for victims to come forward on April 28.
