Kathmandu: Ambassador Sushil Kumar Lamsal presented his Letters of Credence to the King of Jordan, Abdullah II, at the Basman Palace in Amman.
The ceremony, which took place on Monday, was marked by a warm exchange between King Abdullah II and Ambassador Lamsal
Ambassador Lamsal took the opportunity to extend the best wishes of President Ram Chandra Paudel to King Abdullah II, expressing hopes for his good health, happiness, and the prosperity of the people of Jordan.
The Embassy of Nepal in Cairo, Egypt, issued a Press Release detailing the event and emphasizing Ambassador Lamsal’s role as the residential Ambassador of Nepal to Egypt. The release noted that King Abdullah II congratulated Ambassador Lamsal on assuming his position as Ambassador to Jordan.
Furthermore, King Abdullah II assured the Ambassador of the government’s full support in his efforts to strengthen the bilateral ties between Nepal and Jordan.
During their meeting, King Abdullah II emphasized the importance of expanding cooperation in various areas, including trade, investment, and tourism. He also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the welfare of Nepali workers in Jordan. This commitment extends to ensuring their safety, rights, and well-being within the country.
Prior to presenting his credentials to King Abdullah II, Ambassador Lamsal had already delivered copies of his Letters of Credence to Lina Al-Hadid, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Jordan.
The meeting with Al-Hadid provided an opportunity to discuss the advancement of bilateral ties and explore establishing a consultation mechanism between the foreign offices of Nepal and Jordan.
In addition to the meeting with the Secretary-General, Ambassador Lamsal also held discussions with Farouq Al-Hadidi, the General Secretary of the Ministry of Labour of Jordan. Their conversation focused on the implementation of the Nepal-Jordan General Labour Agreement and the scheduling of the inaugural meeting of the bilateral mechanism on labour at an early date.
Overall, the presentation of Ambassador Lamsal’s credentials and the subsequent meetings with key Jordanian officials reflect the commitment of both Nepal and Jordan to enhancing their bilateral relations across various sectors.
