Kathmandu: The Supreme Court has sought a written response from the government on its financial arrangement for the constituency development fund.
A single bench of Justice Hari Prasad Phuyal issued a show cause notice to government after conducting a preliminary hearing on a writ petition on Thursday.
Finance Minister Prakash Sharan Mahat, Office of the Prime Minister, and Finance Ministry, among others have been demanded written response on 50 million Rupees allocated to the constituency development fund through the recent budget.
In the budget speech (point no 445), the government included the provision of allocating 50 million Rupees to a constituency. A writ petition was filed against this arrangement, arguing that it was a wrong trend to distribute money to lawmakers at a time when the country was facing economic crisis.
