KATHMANDU: The Department of Revenue Investigation has arrested six more people including government employees on Sunday in connection with smuggling around 100 kg of gold.
Information Officer of the Department of Revenue Investigation Navraj Adhikari informed that three employees from Department of Customs and three customs agents were arrested.
According to him, customs officer Santosh Chand, inspector Kumar Dhakal and X-ray operator Saroj Shrestha have been arrested.
Similarly, Sudarshan Gautam, Rukmena Subba and Yadav Parajuli have been arrested among the customs agents. So far, 16 people have been arrested for smuggling 100 kg of gold.
The team of the department recovered the gold that was about to be taken to a taxi after passing the customs of the airport in the operation conducted in the area of Tribhuvan International Airport last Wednesday. The gold was brought from Hong Kong.
