Kathmandu, Oct 17: The people victimised by the Bajhang earthquake have received relief materials. The Rotary Club of Kathmandu Mid-Town jointly with Rotary Club of Livermore, USA and local partner Volunteer Corps Nepal distributed relief materials to the quake victims of Jay Prithivi Municipality and Mashta Rural Municipality amid an event here.
The aid items included two tents, 200 blankets, 200 tarpaulins, 200 floormats, five bundles of CGI sheets.
A 6.3 magnitude earthquake jolted various districts of Sudurpaschim and Karnali Provinces with its epicenter in Bajhang district. Bajhang was affected the most by the quake with the recording of one dead and over 11 injured. Over 135 houses were damaged. Multiple aftershocks and new earthquakes occurred in the aftermath of the first quake.
The relief distribution took place in the presence of assistant Chief District Officer of Bajhang District Satya Kumari Joshi, mayor of the Jay Prithvi Municipality Chetraj Baral, Deputy Superintendent of Armed Police Force Janak Panta, Deputy Superintendent of Police Bharat Shah, ward chairs and local community leaders.
Similarly, others present on the occasion were former President of the Rotary Club of Kathmandu Mid-Town and current project director Paras SJB Rana and volunteer Siddhanta Rana, the Volunteer Crops Nepal President Deepak Chapagain and Vice President Radha Matangi, and volunteers.
