Kathmandu, Oct 27: As the 2025 Diversity Visa programme is open, frauds may take place in the process of applying for the DV lottery. In view of the possible frauds involved in the process, the US Department of State, Bureau of Consular Affairs, has urged caution in the process of the application. It has asked entrants to be aware of those who charge fees for the entry submission.
There is no fee to enter and dvprogram.state.gov is the only way to submit an entry, said the US Department of State while asking the applicants not to be fooled by scams or fake websites. It requests them to visit at travel.state.gov/dvfraud to know more about DV programme related frauds, and visit at travel.state.gov/dv to learn more.
It has also asked the applicants to read the 2025 DV entry instructions carefully before applying and warned of disqualification for not completing the entry form correctly or by submitting more than one entry. One can use the link below to view the instructions DV-2025 Instructions.
For the 2025 Diversity Visa programme, the entry submission period is from 12:00 pm EDT (GMT-4) on October 4, 2023 to 12:00 pm EST (GMT-5) on November 7, 2023.
Thousand of Nepali people have reached the US for permanent residence with green cards through the DV programme. Every year, the US allows 50,000 people from countries with low rates of immigrations to legally enter the country through the programme.
Important information for applicants:
Consultants not necessary: The U.S. Embassy recommends against using a consultant to assist applicants with the application. Please consider using a family member, friend or other trusted person if you need assistance. No matter who provides assistance, you are solely responsible for your own application.
Apply online: Entries for the 2025 Diversity Visa Programme must use the electronic Diversity Visa entry form (E-DV) at https://dvprogram.state.gov/ during the registration period.
Entire family on application: When registering, you must list your spouse and all of your unmarried children under the age of 21 at the time of application. Submissions without the inclusion of family members will make your entry invalid.
One application per person: You may submit only one application. Applicants who submit more than one application will be disqualified from consideration.
Submit a recent photo: Entries submitted with the same photo from previous DV years will be disqualified. Be sure to precisely follow the photo rules and associate each photo with the correct person on your application. Please note that applicants may not wear glasses in their photos.
Valid, unexpired passport information required: Entries must include the primary applicant’s passport number, country of issuance, and the passport expiration date.
Be sure to print and save your confirmation number: This number is the only way to check your status.
Never give your confirmation number to anyone. The only method of determining whether you were selected for the DV is by entering your confirmation number at https://dvprogram.state.gov/
