Kathmandu, Oct 27: Ten Nepali students have headed to the United States of America to participate in a student exchange programme held by Tuskegee University, Alabama, USA in partnership with the USAID. The students are from the Agriculture and Forestry University (AFU), Nepal.
USAID Nepal partners with AFU to enhance AFU’s curriculum, research, and extension services, nurturing the entrepreneurial spirit of marginalised students and young professionals. This aims to develop the entrepreneurial spirit of marginalised students and young professionals to become a significant force in the agricultural transformation of Nepal, said the USAID Nepal.
USAID Agriculture Higher Education is working with AFU to introduce student-centered curricula, innovative course materials, and experiential learning opportunities. This has yielded positive results in producing more students ready for agriculture apart from AFU’s greater engagement in extension and research, it has been said.
USAID is improving AFU’s capacity to develop, maintain, and update programs and curricula through experiential student-centered learning models and use of the Positive Youth Development framework. Customised to the changing needs of Nepali agriculture and industry, these programmes are providing students with the opportunities to gain practical and soft skills through experiential learning with public and private sector employers, said the USAID Nepal.
