Kathmandu, Jan 26: The 75th Republic Day of India has been celebrated at the Embassy of India in Kathmandu today. The celebration commenced with the waving of India’s national flag by Ambassador of India to Nepal Naveen Srivastava. On the occasion, the Ambassador also conveyed his greetings to the members of the Indian community in Nepal.
The event also saw the play of a video featuring an address to the nation by President of India, Droupadi Murmu. The President in her message highlighted India’s achievements in various fields since the last Independence Day, particularly the successful G20 Summit under India’s Presidency, and the Chandrayaan-3 Mission.
On the occasion, Ambassador Srivastava felicitated widows and next of kin of the deceased soldiers by disbursing their dues of over Rs 50 million, and blankets. Reiterating its commitment to helping the retired soldiers, the Embassy unveiled the Bhu Puu-2024 magazine covering the welfare initiatives of the Government of India for ex-servicemen originally from Nepal.
Likewise, the Ambassador also presented books worth Rs 1.9 million to various 30 institutions in a customary initiative taken by the Embassy of India on the Republic Day of India.
The event also witnessed a cultural performance by students of Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre of the Embassy and Kendriya Vidyalaya, Kathmandu.
